Intriguing historic house

This is one of Jimena’s most intriguing properties. Located in the historical centre of the village, on a beautiful, picturesque and short  pedestrian street, it offers all the modern facilities of a home carefully restored by the experienced owner/builder and tastefully decorated by an interior designer whose home it also is. Its charm is in the details, the views, the location and its ‘good vibes’.

The sweeping size of the lounge includes three cosy conversation areas, as well as a wood burning stove. The old beams have been carefully renovated as has the brick work they support.

The dining room offers plenty of space for those pleasant relaxed dinner parties you long to give.

Cooking indoors with all the facilities you’d expect from someone who loves cooking, including all the white goods you need, doesn’t mean eating indoors all the time, either.

The property has several little corners for more or less intimate dining, as well as a sun terrace (above) with 360º views  complete with barbecue area.

The main patio (above) is breathtaking and personal at the same time. The choice of colours, in paints and plants, makes this a very special part of this home. Two other small terraces lead from a bedroom or the office.

There are three bedrooms, two of which are en-suite.

There are more details to this property than can be adeqautely shown here, including the original blue-limed ceiling brickwork at the entrance, or the hidraulic-made antique flooring kept in some places. The main bathroom, for instance, was made out of what was once the stable.

Located close, but not on, the main square of Jimena, there is plenty of parking space within a few steps, as well as a choice of restaurants, banks, shopping, etc. It would ideally suit a business couple, perhaps with a teenage son or daughter.

The home is in pristine condition and priced for prompt rental or sale.

Magnificent private hilltop property

This home was built just five years ago in the most attractive tradition of Andalusian architecture, but with all mod cons. It sits at the top of a hill, esconced in its surroundings yet only a few minutes from Jimena village and only 25 from the coast. The property consists of 11.5 hectares, and plenty of water.

Wherever you are in this home, the views are breathtaking. Sit by the salt water pool, or on one of the terraces and catch Gibraltar in the distance, or the Ronda mountains … you have to see it for yourself. The setting takes advantage of the morning sun for breakfast, or the setting lavender coloured evening, as well as cool summer breezes.

The terrace at the rear hosts a large salt water pool with its own purification system. Covered area for dining al fresco, BBQ and lots of room to chill out. There are lawns on all sides yet pure nature is at a mere arm’s length, but a carefully planned irrigation system keeps the lawns green even in the dry summer months. Although the current owners do not cultivate the 11 hectares of the property, there are hunting rights, and it could be easily farmed as there is no shortage of water. Good pasture land, too.

Inside, the large kitchen dining room has the feel of a country estate.  Large rooms, and high ceilings allow for excellent light and air throughout the house.

Built on a single story, details are plentiful, from Ronda tiled floors and fascinating beams to oil fired central heating for the cooler months, and a large open fireplace in the large sitting room.

With three spacious bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, the master bedroom also has a dressing room and lots of built in wardrobe space, fabulous views and direct access to the lawn and views – and what views!

Mains water and electricity plus irrigation from river water for 20,000 metres2. The laundry room and boilers are neatly tucked away in a store room integrated into the side of the house.

A charming venta (rural bar, drinks, tapas and more) is within walking distance for a taste of authentic Spanish life. There are walks in all directions, and such amenities as bird watching, horse riding, polo, sailing, wonderful train rides up the mountains (a must in Spring), ferry crossings to Morocco and more … none are much more than 30 minutes away. (See more on Jimena and surroundings.)

Gibraltar, Málaga and Jerez airports are handy,  at most 1.5 hours away. Further away are Seviille, Cordoba and Cádiz.

This is a very private property

for a private sale direct from the proprietor.
